We promise the individual, their family and the community the highest quality elderly and dementia care, enhancing each person’s world through changing perceptions and changing lives.
The Priory residential care home is a fine Grade II listed building situated in the heart of Ottery St Mary and is opposite the Parish Church of St Mary, a replica of Exeter Cathedral. It has three floors and a basement and was adapted in the late 1970s to become a Residential Care Home.
The Priory is a relatively small Residential Home with 21 rooms and this is in marked contrast with other local establishments which have more residents in their care. Many of the other local homes are set within beautiful grounds, but are therefore somewhat isolated from the community. Here at The Priory we are in the heart of the town of Ottery St Mary and within easy walking distance of the town centre and its shops and bustle of life. If our residents are unable to walk the distance then it is still near enough for staff to push them in a wheelchair (with a power pack fitted – it’s quite a hill!) Many of our residents are local to Ottery and therefore feel ‘at home’ as they meet familiar faces that they have known for years.
But, it is not all about the property. The Priory is beautiful and does have great facilities but the thing of which we are most proud is our care and commitment to our residents.
Our aim is to help change perceptions of what a residential home is; to help change a person’s life from being stuck at home alone to being part of an active, lively community -and we do this in so many ways.
We believe that life is for living and we do everything within our power to make sure that those who reside with us are cared for, entertained and given opportunities to generally live life to their full capacity.
